Since its inception in 1989; Rovos Rail has built an international reputation for providing truly world-class travel experiences. On a variety of personalized train journeys ranging from 48 hours to 15 days; Rovos Rail combines some of the most beautiful travel destinations on the continent; with a variety of off-train excursions; and / or some of the finest golfing experiences.

The beautifully converted trains carry a maximum of 72 passengers in 36 high-quality suites and are also available for charter hire; while the Events Train offers space for up to 250 guests and is only suitable for day trips.

Each train has accommodation carriages, dining cars, a lounge car with ±26 seats; a small gift shop, a smoking lounge with ±11 seats; and an observation car with ±32 seats and an open-air balcony.

All the suites offer passengers the opportunity to travel in privacy, comfort and luxury; with fittings and facilities that are of the highest standard. The wood-panelled rebuilt sleeper coaches, remodelled and refurbished to mint condition, offer every modern convenience and comfort. In the en-suite bathrooms, original fittings combine with the modern technology of hot showers, flushing toilets, hairdryers, and shaver plugs. The Royal Suite also has a small Victorian bath.

Suites all have a writing surface and a personal safe for valuables. There is also a bar fridge; filled with beverages of the passengers’ choice and room service is available 24 hours a day. There is adequate storage and small cupboards with hangers and shelves. Suite layouts may differ from images.

Pullman Suites (±7 sq metres / ±76 sq feet)

The Pullman Suites have a comfortable sofa seat during the day; with a conversion to double or twin beds (bunk) for the evening. They also have an en-suite bathroom with a shower. These suites are ideal for single travellers due to their size.

Deluxe Suites (±10 sq metres / ±118 sq feet)

The Deluxe Suites accommodate two passengers in either twin or double beds. They have a lounge area and an en-suite bathroom with a shower.

Royal Suites (±16 sq metres / ±172 sq feet)

The Royal Suites, each of which takes up half a carriage, are spacious and elegant. Each has its own private lounge area and full bathroom with a Victorian bath and separate shower. The epitome of luxury with handsome wood panelling and period Edwardian features; the air-conditioned suites accommodate two people offering the option of a side-by-side twin or a spacious double bed.
