Best time for your Zambia Honeymoon

Most honeymooners will visit Victoria Falls so it is important to know the best times to visit on the Livingstone side. The Falls are in full flood from around February to April/May so this is the best time. This is after the rains (which in the southern hemisphere are from around November).  From May the waters drop (slowly) and it makes the Falls easier to see as you don’t have as much spray! On the Zambian side of the Falls, there is very little water between October – December / January so it is better to view from the Zimbabwe side. However, this is when you are able to plunge into the Zambezi to swim at the edge of the Falls at either Angels or Devils Pool. This is a highly recommended activity that is only available on the Zambian side of Victoria Falls. If you are staying on the Zimbabwe side, we can arrange transfers for this.

For a safari honeymoon in Zambia, the best time to visit is during the dry season as that is when the weather is warm. But particularly, it is easier to find game gathering at the dwindling water supplies. This is typically between May and October. The rains start around November, following which the wildlife has more access to water so is more spread out. The rain is usually afternoon thunderstorms that are mostly short, so won’t put a damper on your honeymoon.
