Both have different requirements. Legal weddings are not as easy as for example; a South African or Mauritius Wedding. For this reason; we often recommend doing the legalities in your home country. And doing a ‘mock’ wedding; or what we call a renewal of vows at Victoria Falls.
However; should you still want to do the legalities here; the basic requirements are:
An original letter from each person, authorizing the hotel or venue to complete the “NOTIFICATION FOR MARRIAGE FORM”; on your behalf,
Copies of the first 3 pages of each person’s passport,
Full birth certificates,
Original letter of consent from both parents; if applicable,
A divorce certificate; if applicable and a copy of your previous marriage certificate,
If widowed, a death certificate and your previous marriage certificate,
Full names and occupations of both parties; as well as; both parents,
All documents must be translated into English,
All documents should be certified copies in blue ink.
The Council in Livingstone / Victoria Falls will publish the intention of marriage for public view.
The legal documentation including the marriage certificate costs approximately US$1000. The Priests fees are ±US$300; all are subject to change.
Victoria Falls Wedding Venues
Many hotels and lodges offer their gardens or secluded spots in the bush for ceremonies and receptions. But, if preferred; more formal venues are available. Many of the Victoria Falls hotels & lodges offer conference size function rooms, exclusive private rooms. Select a venue from idyllic riverside spots to secluded islands on the Zambezi. Or the manicured perfection of hotel or lodge gardens.
Whether you’re planning a spectacularly large wedding or a small intimate affair; there is a lot of choice in Victoria Falls and Livingstone.

Friendly, experienced wedding planning teams are on hand to advise and make all arrangements. These include the marriage officer, certificate, florist, cake, the feast, and even bands; from traditional Shangaan warriors, marimba serenades, or a harmonious choir; all to complement the occasion.
One of the biggest attractions of a wedding at Victoria Falls; is the vast variety of romantic and fun activities that are on offer for you and your guests; before or after the wedding.
Wedding Procedures
On arrival at the hotel, your wedding coordinator will meet you to discuss the remainder of your details. On the day of the ceremony, a representative will take you to the Council. Where you will complete an affidavit in front of the Registrar; in support of an application for Registrar’s Certificate; the marriage certificate.
If you have a matrimonial contract, you will have to bring this along with you; drawn by your notary stating such.
Bear in mind; you are marrying according to Zambian or Zimbabwe laws and therefore; we do recommend doing the legalities in your home country.
