A short fly-in gorilla safari from Entebbe, visiting the Mountain Gorillas in Uganda, and staying in a luxury lodge.
There are no set departure dates on this itinerary. You choose which package you want and fly on that day. They all have a night in Entebbe on arrival.
We typically buy permits for Buhoma & Ruhija, which are accessible from the Buhoma area. The Ruhija families require a road transfer to the start point therefore a surcharge may apply (we will try to get Buhoma permits). It will depend on availability at the time of purchase.

Fly-In Gorilla Safari Package Itinerary
Day 1
Upon arrival at Entebbe airport, you will clear customs and immigration and then you will be met by our representative outside the baggage hall area and transferred to your hotel.
Overnight at in Entebbe/Kampala on a bed and breakfast basis
Day 2
After an early breakfast, you will be transferred to Entebbe Airport for a scheduled flight to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. You will be met on arrival and transferred to the camp/lodge in time for lunch. The afternoon is at leisure for taking part in any optional activities (at an additional cost payable directly to the lodge). Dinner will be provided at the camp/lodge.

Well-trained guides lead you to the site where the gorillas were encountered the day before. And from here the tracking begins. The gorillas, whose continuous search for food requires a nomadic lifestyle, determine the duration of the hike. The trek can take between one and six hours. Sometimes more, at elevations in excess of 7,500 feet and over rough terrain.
Although the hike can be physically demanding, the anticipation of the exciting experience ahead is invigorating. And the beauty of the forest and its inhabitants are fascinating. When the gorillas are encountered, any fatigue is quickly forgotten. Observing a wild gorilla family in its natural habitat and on its terms is considered to be the most profound natural history experience. Few who have had this rare privilege would disagree.
Each strictly regulated 60 minute visit passes all too quickly, and you depart leaving the gorillas to their fragile existence. After time with the gorillas, you return to camp. With hopefully a few unforgettable memories of a rare and wondrous experience. If the gorilla groups are relatively close, you’ll also have the chance to hike nearby forest trails. This allows you to obtain a better understanding of the forest and its other inhabitants. These hikes provide the opportunity to observe smaller primate species and regional, endemic birds.
Day 3
After breakfast, you will be taken on a short drive to the park headquarters. Where you will be allocated a gorilla family in groups of 8 people. As well as a gorilla tracking guide. A pre-tracking briefing by your guide touching on the gorillas generally, and your assigned gorilla family. As well as appropriate safety precautions. Following which, you drive to the trailhead for the start of a thrilling adventure.
Expect to walk between 2 and 8 hours in steep and sometimes muddy conditions with rain overhead. Which can be tough and require a degree of (average) fitness. However, the thrill of coming face to face with a giant Mountain Gorilla silverback completely makes up for the effort!
Please remember to bring your passport for registration, appropriate, waterproof hiking boots, and a light raincoat. To protect from stinging nettles, we recommend long pants and long sleeved tops. A pair of old gardening gloves can help grab onto the vegetation. While most hotels/lodges provide a walking stick that comes in very handy. Especially when hiking downhill. A small waterproof backpack is an excellent idea to carry a light snack and bottled water. As well as protection for your camera.
Upon sighting the gorillas, you spend the allowed one hour with them. As they go about their daily life; feeding, moving, playing, raising their young, and sometimes wrestling by the juveniles. It is a totally unique and unforgettable experience!
You will return to your camp/lodge in the late afternoon. A late lunch will be provided, and the rest of the afternoon is at leisure. Dinner will be provided at the camp/lodge.

Day 4
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airstrip for the morning scheduled flight to Entebbe. This should arrive back about 11 am. You will be met on arrival and assisted to connect to your departure flight.

Option B: Clouds Gorilla Mountain Lodge
Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge is beautifully located with stunning views of the Virunga range. The upmarket lodge comprises 8 x stone cottages. 6 cottages are double/twin and 2 cottages for perfect for families with two separate en-suite private bedrooms and a shared lounge area. Option E: Buhoma Lodge
Buhoma Lodge is located inside Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. On the edge of the forest offering spectacular views of the forest. It is only a short walk to the starting point for gorilla tracking. Its peaceful location means that you may truly relax after your tracking experience. While you listen to the birds and primates in the forest. Each cottage is en suite and has its own private veranda. There is a cozy central lounge area for you to unwind around the evening fire. Meals are in a separate dining room.
All guests staying at Buhoma Lodge also receive a complimentary massage after their trek.
