All the accommodation at Tsara Komba is dotted throughout a luxurious leafy environment offering privacy and tranquility for guests. All have an incredible sea view. They feature a tall, slender architectural design emphasizing exotic materials such as local wood varieties (rosewood, sohihy). And waxed concrete with warm and sober shades. Including beige, greys or browns with shimmering reflections. The roofs made from Ravinala leaves (the traveler’s tree) are very high, providing excellent natural ventilation. Which is further enhanced by the shutter blinds on the sides.

All have a fan, desk, safe, chest of drawers, and wardrobe. Along with a bathroom with a shower opening out onto the exterior. The terraces have sunbeds. Or, enjoy sitting in your private garden for maximum intimacy with an ocean view.

There are 6 x Ocean View Rooms and 2 x Ocean View Suites. These cozy homes away from home offer a stylish and comfortable place to stay. Blending in seamlessly with the generous natural environment. They have huge, delightfully welcoming shaded terraces. The interior layouts and amenities are all conducive to wellness and relaxation.

The Ocean View Rooms have a bedroom with a king bed surrounded by a mosquito net, accommodating two adults + one child (less than 17 years old).

Guided Forest Trek

Follow your private guide through the dense and majestic forest bordering the property on a 2 or 4 hour trek. Nosy Komba is covered by a lush tropical forest. Home to all kinds of trees, flowers, and extremely rich wildlife. You can meet the mischievous Macaco lemurs. The slow but brightly colored chameleons, birds, lizards, frogs, and butterflies. You’ll also be passing through vanilla and wild pepper plantations. Bringing a delightful touch of fragrance to your trip.

Your guide will be talking to you about the mysteries and benefits of the medicinal plants found in this huge forest. With the 4 hour trek, you can reach the highest point of Nosy Komba and walk back down to the village on the other side. In this case, you’ll return by dugout canoe.

Nosy Iranja

Nosy Iranja, or Turtle Island, is two small islands linked by a bank of fine sand. This is where turtles come to lay their eggs, hence the name. Sometimes the water completely covers it. It is not uncommon to encounter whales en route to Nosy Iranja.

The stunning Nosy Iranja is an hour’s boat ride away. Known for its turquoise waters and pristine white beaches. Depending on the season, you might be able to see turtles come ashore to lay their eggs. Hawksbill Turtles, typically nest from October to April, and Green Turtles from June to September. From August to November, the area is a prime spot for seeing humpback whales.

Enjoy a beach picnic lunch prepared by your guides, then explore the island’s beauty before returning to the lodge in the late afternoon. This excursion offers a perfect combination of wildlife sightings and relaxation.

Nosy Tanikely

Set out on a 20 minute journey to Nosy Tanikely, a small island known for its stunning marine park and rich history. A 30 minute boat ride from Tsara Komba brings you to this protected Marine and Coastal Area. Dive into the warm ocean to explore vibrant coral reefs teeming with colourful fish and diverse marine life.

On the island, take a leisurely walk to visit the historic lighthouse, dating back to 1908. The walk offers a chance to see the Common Brown Lemur in its natural habitat. Traditional Palangrotte Fishing

Experience the authentic tradition of palangrotte fishing at Tsara Komba. This unique fishing technique involves using a nylon line wrapped around a wooden plate, known as a palangrotte (longline), with spaced hooks. Fish above the coral reefs in the channel between Nosy Komba and Nosy Be. This is where the current favours the passage of sardines, bonitos, and mackerels.

Lokobe National Park

This protected nature reserve is the last primary forest of Nosy Be. Follow your guide through the dense tropical forest to discover a unique world of plants and flowers. Alongside more than 350 animal species. This makes Lokobe popular with scientists from all around the world and all lovers of plants and wildlife. Nosy Be

Nosy Be has lush landscapes and fragrant flowers. It is also referred to as the fragrant island. This is due to the fragrances of cinnamon, and frangipani. But above all, ylang-ylang which delights great perfume makers the world over.

The picturesque craftsman’s villages are worth a visit. As is the flower and spice distillery, or the Sacred Tree. Plus the colorful market of Ambanja, Mont Passot or the attractive beach at Andilana.

Whale Watching (in season)

Between August and November, the waters around Nosy Iranja, Nosy Sakatia, and Baie du Russe (Russian Bay) offer prime locations for spotting majestic humpback whales as they migrate to warmer waters to give birth. During this period, we prioritise minimising disturbances to these magnificent creatures. While we do not swim with the whales, guests can enjoy stunning sightings of them breaching and sometimes calving from a respectful distance. This ensures both the safety of the whales and a memorable experience for our guests.

*Whale watching is a wonderful addition to the excursions to Nosy Iranja, Nosy Sakatia, and Baie du Russe. We are often treated to the incredible sight of humpback whales along the way.

During peak season, from mid-September to mid-December, guided excursions witness these gentle giants in their natural habitat. Swimming alongside these magnificent creatures is a once in a lifetime opportunity, offering a unique perspective on marine life.

Dugout Canoe Adventure

Explore Nosy Komba’s coastlines and villages from a traditional dugout canoe with a guide. Explore the village of Ampangorina and the local market and then head to Nosy Ambariofasy. This is a charming small island linked to Nosy Ambariode by a white sandbank where you can snorkel.

The Baie Des Russes

In December 1904, a Russian fleet stopped off here on their way to fight in Japan. After staying for 2 months, one ship was left behind. These remaining sailors gave “Russian Bay” its name. Several fishing villages are found here as the region is known for its large fish. Dolphins, whale sharks, manta rays and humpback whales (August to mid November) are all part of the scenery here.

The beaches are also a favorite egg laying ground for water turtles. While the numerous coral reefs resemble real life natural aquariums.

Nosy Faly

Nosy Faly, known as the Sacred island, as it is home to the tombs of the local dynasty. The Sakalava Bemazava. You’ll discover the immense richness and diversity of its mangrove forest. The protective role of which is vital to the island’s villages as it holds back the full force of the waves. It acts as a genuine nursery for crabs, prawns and other fish. And, the Madagascan sea eagle, a bird of prey you’ll see flying overhead while you’re here.

A disused lighthouse provides a complete 360° panoramic view from the coasts of Grande Ile to Nosy Be and Nosy Komba. Including the Mitsio archipelago.

The Mitsio Archipelago

The Mitsio archipelago is volcanic. The main island, La Grande Mitsio, is inhabited by fishermen and stock rearers. There are a host of smaller white sandy islands bordered by incredible creeks and lush vegetation. Tsarabanjina is one of the most beautiful of these. This island shelters a highly diversified fauna.
