Uganda Family Tour

Uganda is a fantastic family tour destination, often called the “Pearl of Africa” for its stunning diversity. While it’s famous for gorilla trekking, a family tour can be tailored to include everything from rhino tracking on foot to boat safaris on the Nile. Gorilla trekking is for kids 15+ while chimpanzee tracking (just as exciting) is for kids of 12+. Else if children are younger than 12, the Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary allows all ages to see rescued chimps.

Lake Mburo is great for children of all ages as there are no large carnivores. Rhino tracking at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is available to children of 6+.

For families with teens, Jinja offers white water rafting, quad biking, and bungee jumping at the source of the Nile.

Uganda Family Tour Top Tips

  • Due to the age restrictions on some activities, Uganda is probably better suited to families with older children.
  • A Yellow Fever vaccination is required for entry from 1 years old.
  • Uganda’s roads can be long and bumpy. Consider “fly-in” safaris between parks if your budget allows to avoid 6  to 8 hour drives that might test a child’s patience.
