Royal Chundu invites you to unwind with river cruises at golden hour, island picnics, and cultural encounters that connect you to the land and its people. But adventure is never far. Helicopter flights above the Falls, white water rafting, bungee jumping, and guided explorations bring the pulse of Livingstone truly to life. As the day winds down, indulge in Royal Chundu’s celebrated dining experiences. Where food is soulful – a celebration of heritage, local ingredients, and shared stories.

With dazzling birdlife and reflections that seem to stretch time. Cap off your first day with a delectable dinner under the stars. Letting the sounds of the river lull you into relaxation.

Day 2:

Begin your day with a hearty breakfast on the lodge’s river facing deck. The morning light on the Zambezi is a show in itself. Afterwards, step into the heart of Zambian life with a guided walking tour of the nearby village. Where warm hospitality and age old traditions offer a humbling glimpse into local culture and community.

Next, transfer to the canoe launch site for an unforgettable canoeing adventure down the Zambezi. In specially designed inflatable canoes, you’ll gently paddle through tranquil channels flanked by lush island vegetation and rich birdlife. Midway through, a picnic lunch on a remote island awaits an idyllic pause surrounded by nature’s stillness.

Day 3:

Greet the morning with an early breakfast before setting off on a scenic journey to Victoria Falls. One of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya which means “The Smoke That Thunders”. This awe inspiring curtain of water marks the dramatic meeting of Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Your guide will lead you on a walking tour of the Zambian or Zimbabwean side of the Falls (depending on preference and water levels). Where the mist rises high and rainbows shimmer through the spray. Feel the thunderous energy as millions of liters cascade into the gorge below. A sensory experience unlike any other.

For those seeking an extra thrill, you may opt for the Livingstone Island experience (seasonal, additional cost), offering a rare opportunity to swim at the edge of the world in the famous Devil’s Pool. A breathtaking natural infinity pool perched above the chasm.

After exploring the Falls, enjoy a leisurely lunch in Livingstone. Followed by time to browse the local craft markets. Where Zambian artisans display intricate carvings, textiles, and handmade souvenirs, perfect keepsakes of your adventure.

Return to Royal Chundu in the late afternoon. Where you can unwind on the deck with a sundowner or indulge in a soothing massage (optional, additional cost). As dusk settles, savor a Zambezi inspired dinner under the stars, reminiscing on a day spent immersed in one of Africa’s most iconic wonders.

Day 4:

Awaken to the gentle rhythm of the Zambezi and an early sunrise cruise. The river coming alive with golden hues and birdsong. For those keen on adventure, try your hand at tiger fishing. One of Africa’s most exhilarating angling experiences. Whether you land the fierce tigerfish or simply enjoy the quiet beauty of dawn on the water, the experience is its own reward.

After a leisurely riverside breakfast, take the morning at your own pace. Laze on your deck, unwind with a rejuvenating massage (optional, additional cost). Or simply let the sounds of the river carry you into calm reflection.

Later, embark on a short boat transfer to Island Lodge for the fascinating Katombora Island Walk. Your private guide will lead you through this pristine sanctuary. Home to ancient baobabs, winding papyrus creeks, and jackalberry trees over two millennia old. Discover the stories that live within the landscape and the secrets of this timeless ecosystem.

Return to the lodge for a final afternoon of indulgence. Perhaps a pampering spa session, a dip in the pool, or one last serene moment gazing out over the river. As the sun begins to set, raise a glass on your farewell sunset cruise, celebrating your Royal Chundu journey with a Zambian Tasting Menu. A seven course culinary experience that weaves together local ingredients, flavors, and traditions in an unforgettable finale.

Day 5:

Your journey begins with a transfer to Livingstone Airport for your commercial flight to Lusaka (this flight is not included). Followed by a short and scenic 30 minute journey aboard Royal Air Charters (RAC) to Royal Airstrip (this flight is included). Upon landing, a member of the team will greet you for a smooth 10 minute transfer to Royal Zambezi Lodge.

Royal Zambezi Lodge is set beneath the sweeping escarpment and along the meandering lower Zambezi riverbanks. This untamed landscape teams with life. Where your safari is not confined to the back of a vehicle but extends onto the water and across the floodplains. Canoe past herds of elephants, walk trails in search of lions and wild dogs. Or cast a line into the Lower Zambezi’s legendary waters.

Every stay at Royal Zambezi contributes to a greater story. One of conservation, community, and deep-rooted connection to the land.

In the afternoon, settle into your luxurious suite. Take a moment to breathe in the beauty that surrounds you. Then, head out on a serene sunset boat cruise. Sip on your favorite drink as the Zambezi River begins to shimmer in the golden light. Watch as buffalo’s graze quietly along the sandbanks and elephants wade gracefully across the channels. The horizon melts into hues of amber and rose.

Prefer to unwind at your own pace? Lounge by your private plunge pool, explore the peaceful library, or simply soak in the river views from a sun lounger. As dusk settles in, gather for a welcome dinner on the deck beneath a canopy of stars, with the sounds of hippos in the distance and fireflies dancing between lantern lit tables.
