Governors Sky Safari

Governors Sky Safari

The Governors Sky Safari is a 6-day Kenya flying safari visiting Lake Naivasha, Lake Nakuru, and the Masai Mara.

For some, it is the crossroads in their lives, an emotional rebirth, a lightening of the spirit at the sight of so many animals and so much space. Governors opened Kenya’s first exclusive safari camp in the early 1970s and today it still upholds the best-kept traditions. This safari is small and exclusive. Where days are spent on game drives, and boating in the Rift Valley. Expect the guides to be excellent, the food delightful and the accommodation extremely comfortable. Governors provide a ‘home from home’ service, with all meals and activities included. The team is very flexible and tries to tailor all activities around its guests. At Loldia, activities include guided boat rides and trips to Lake Nakuru and Hell’s Gate National Parks, and a visit to the local flower farms and a local school.

Loldia House

The early settlers found vast herds of game including predators, and a profusion of birdlife around these spectacular lakes. They lived an outdoor lifestyle. Riding, hunting, fishing, and walking. Loldia House was established by a settler who arrived by ox wagon just after the Boer War and it’s still owned by the same family today. Nestled under acacia and wild fig trees on the western shores of Lake Naivasha, there are just a handful of comfortable double rooms with en suite bathrooms here. The cuisine and the service are both absolutely first-rate.

The farm is ideally situated to visit the flamingo lakes of Nakuru and Elementaita. With Nakuru offering excellent viewing chances for white rhinos seen amongst an abundance of other bird and animal life. The 6,500 acres of farm is well stocked with herds of cattle and a flock of farmed ostriches. Interspersed with impala, waterbuck, and other plains game. Boat trips may be arranged on Lake Naivasha for fishing and birdwatching, and visits can be made to Hell’s Gate National Park with its spectacular canyon, hot springs, and high raptor population. Activities are tailor-made for each guest.

Placing particular emphasis on comfort and service. Maintaining these qualities, the camp has been refined and improved over the years. However, particular care has been taken to preserve an atmosphere in which today’s travelers may share some of the experiences of a classic safari and enjoy the landscape and wildlife that so inspired adventurers such as Hemingway.

Tents are carefully positioned for uninterrupted views from their verandas and are stylishly decorated. Niceties such as wake up calls with tea and ginger biscuits at your tent. Meals are delicious. Many people dress up for dinner! Activities are extremely flexible with walking and 4×4 safaris offered.
