The Zambezi River is over 2km wide at this point (in season). Where it plunges down a series of basalt gorges for 108m. Sending up an opalescent mist that can be seen over 20km away. The locals still call the falls Mosi-oa-Tunya (The Smoke that Thunders). Pioneer David Livingstone; was awed to remark: “Scenes so lovely must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight.”
Following in his footsteps; guests have the unique experience of trekking through the riverine forest to discover and walk along the Falls. There are few major waterfalls that can be viewed on foot in such close proximity. So close; in fact, guests can feel the spray (raincoats are provided). Victoria Falls Cruise Tours
The Zambezi Sunset cruise is a superb way to relax and enjoy the spectacular beauty of the Zambezi River.
There are great photo opportunities against often spectacular African sunsets.
Flocks of birds skim the waterline as the sun sets behind the African skyline. See a variety of wildlife including hippos, crocodiles, and elephants as well as enjoy the many different bird species.
The Sunset Cruise is very popular and includes finger snacks, beer, wine, local spirits, and soft drinks.

Helicopter flights over Victoria Falls
What better way to see the magical winding Zambezi River and the crashing of the Victoria Falls than from above in a helicopter? You can enjoy riveting helicopter flights over the Falls (this trip lasts approximately 12 minutes) or fly over the Falls, gorge, and game park for about 25 minutes. Look out for the wildlife and other sights below. You’re going to want your camera with you on this trip!
Micro-light over Victoria Falls
The micro-light has an open cockpit for the ultimate adrenaline ride! Micro-lights have a unique, wing-mounted camera that enables clients to capture this exciting experience on film. There are restrictions that apply to the micro-light – minimum age of six years and maximum mass of 100kg.
Full moon lunar rainbow tours at Victoria Falls
This is definitely one of the most unique experiences available at Victoria Falls. It is witnessed during the months from March to July. Victoria Falls is one of a very limited number of sites around the world, which are known for the occurrence of moonbows. While rainbows usually appear through direct sunlight, the Lunar Rainbow is rare and occurs from light reflected from the moon’s surface. Experience it from Victoria Falls as the spray from the water going over causes a beautiful “Moonbow” over the chasm.
White water rafting
Jump in and ride the raging white water rapids of the mighty Zambezi River, in a raft. Feel the rush of adrenaline in wild Africa. Enjoy the exhilaration and thrills of some of the biggest rapids in the world. With names like “Stairway to Heaven”, “Devil’s Toilet Boil”, “Washing Machine” and “Oblivion”, you can imagine what the rapids have in store. Your guide will assist you through the rapids and tell you all you need to know.
Livingstone Island Tour (Devils Pool)
When the Zambezi River is high, 10 million litres of water rush over the lip of Victoria Falls each second, falling 108 meters into the roaring chasm below. Livingstone Island sits in the heart of this spray, on the brink of one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, and offers an experience that is entirely unique.
Follow in Dr. David Livingstone’s footsteps as you tour the island, hear about its history, experience luxury dining, and soak up the sights. In certain seasons you can even swim in Angel or Devil’s Pool on the very edge of the waterfall. Devil’s Pool is open during the drier months of the year, usually between mid-August and late December. Angel’s Pool is usually open from January until March and from the middle of June to mid-August. Livingstone Island is usually closed entirely between the end of March and the middle of June.
There are five trips a day to Livingstone Island. Please be aware that these dates are entirely dependent on the Zambezi River water levels.
Bungee Jump
111 meters of pure adrenaline rush! The bungee jump operates off the Victoria Falls Bridge and has a 100% safety record. Flying Fox
Imagine taking a running jump into thin air over the chasm, soaring horizontally through the air over the turmoil of the Zambezi below. The gorge at this point is 200 meters wide and 120 meters deep. This is a great appetizer before you try the Zip Line and Gorge Swing.
Zip Line
This is the longest Zip Line (Foofie Slide) ride in the world. Imagine the Adrenalin rush traveling at a speed of 106 km, hurtling 425 m across the gorge. All while suspended 120 m above the breathtaking beauty of the Zambezi water below!
The cable is suspended from one side to the other as the river zigzags down the Batoka Gorges. You are harnessed and attached to a pulley.
Gorge Swing
The Gorge Swing is a thrilling and mind-blowing experience. Leap into the wide-open air as you plunge into the mouth of the Batoka gorge, Victoria Falls. Scream as you break free of the fear and trepidation you felt before you threw yourself off the platform!
Imagine swinging in a child’s swing in the playground. Now imagine a giant swing 95 m long and 120 m high above the water. Imagine a 70 m free fall before you begin swinging. Stop imagining and come and try it out! A harness is attached to the jumper and then the jumping ropes. The other end of which is pivoted to the middle of the cable. The jumper leaps off the edge of the gorge, free falling about 70 m before going into a 95 m long pendulum-type swing.
Canopy Tour
The Victoria Falls Canopy Tour offers fantastic views of Zambezi rapids, Victoria Falls Bridge & the spray of the Falls.
Observe the riverine forest from a variety of different vantage points – from above, below, and within the canopy itself. Experience forest bird life, which can include the Knysna and Purple-crested Turaco (Lourie) and Peregrine Falcons. The Victoria Falls Canopy Tour offers a network of slides, trails, and rope bridge walkways within the canopy of the hardwood forest of the Zambezi gorges. This experience is suitable for adventure seekers of all ages including families and groups.
The Canopy Tour consists of nine slides, varying in length, and one cable bridge walkway. The longest slide is about 85 meters long and the shortest is 40 meters in length.
Zambezi Jet Boating Tours – Victoria Falls

The Zambezi National Park has over 415 species of birds. Explore these wild areas, in search of Rock Pratincole, Grey-headed Parrot, African Skimmer, White-backed Night Heron, African Finfoot, Collared Palm Thrush, Dickinson’s Kestrel, Western Banded Snake Eagle, and more!
Wildlife Conservation Safari
The Conservation Safari aims to raise awareness of the wildlife conservation efforts that are taking place behind the scenes in the Zambezi National Park.
The safari starts off with the clients attending a presentation by a member of the Victoria Falls Anti Poaching Unit. Get the full background and history of the unit and learn about many fascinating aspects involved in the unit’s operations. Plus the challenges faced and the huge successes VFAPU has achieved to date. The participants on this safari are educated on the various types of poaching that take place in the region.
Following on from this, take a field trip to the Zambezi National Park. Record game sightings, identify spoor, patrol, and sweep for wire snares, and generally visit areas to investigate for any signs of poaching.
This safari effectively provides a useful presence at ground level, to deter various forms of poaching, whilst the clients get to play an important role in conservation efforts.
Victoria Falls Walking Safari Tours
A walking safari offers a totally different perspective to safaris in a game-viewing vehicle. Observe the wildlife up close in either the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park (Zambia) or Zambezi National Park (Zimbabwe).
Livingstone Town Tour
A fascinating tour of the original colonial town of Livingstone. Explore the David Livingstone Museum, take in the historic sights of the original capital city of Zambia, and immerse yourself in the history and culture of Livingstone.
Rhino Encounters
Meet one of Africa’s “Big Five” – the rare white rhinoceros. This wilderness walk is through the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park just upstream from the mighty Victoria Falls. The park is also home to buffalo, impala, zebra, giraffe, and warthog.
On a rhino walk, you get to come close to the amazing and sadly highly endangered white rhino. A 4 x 4 safari through the park takes guests to the position where the trackers located the Rhinos. Here guests receive a briefing by the guides regarding the procedures and safety aspects of the walk.
Guests will have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to walk near and spend some quality time interacting (at a safe distance) with the rhino. It is an excellent opportunity for photographing the rhino. Professional guides give commentary on the rhino; as well as wildlife, flora, and spore encountered during the walk.
Elephant Encounter
The Elephant Encounter affords guests the opportunity to unobtrusively observe some of the biggest personalities in Africa. Spend time and connect with elephants in the most positive and natural way possible. The sanctuary was founded on the principle of conservation. One of the most effective ways to evoke a sense of environmental responsibility is to show what stands to be lost.
You will have an opportunity to talk to guides that have journeyed (physically and metaphorically) incredible distances with these elephants. Learn more about the complexities of the individuals and the herd structures. An interesting and informative talk about the elephant as well as their history and how they came to be in the sanctuary. The threats facing elephant populations today are also discussed.
Venture out into the bush to spend time with the elephant. Witness the special relationship the elephant keepers share with the animals and become a part of it. You will have the opportunity to take photographs with the elephants, marvel at their size, and watch them behaving normally; browsing and interacting with one another.
Elephant Art Safari
For budding artists, an eco-conscious and unique elephant experience. Venture down to a waterhole and mud wallow where, under the shade of an enormous Mopane tree, you will find a chair and easel – each set up with a fresh sheet of paper. A private tutor is provided to guide guests through a painting workshop, using their sketch pads and brush to capture the moment.
