Serengeti Honeymoon

The Serengeti is probably the most romantic and best honeymoon in Tanzania. Witness the Wildebeest annual migration. And have a fantastic safari honeymoon. After all the stress of the wedding, your honeymoon needs to re-energize you in your vows and this will surely do that and more!

There is something profoundly magical about transitioning from a thrilling day tracking apex predators to a private, lantern-lit dinner in the middle of the quiet, boundless savanna.

When planning a honeymoon here, the experience comes down to choosing the right region, and the perfect season.
Staying inside the Serengeti National Park puts you right in the thick of the world’s most famous wildlife action. Lodges offer resort-style luxury in the bush.

For true honeymoon privacy, look to private reserves bordering the park, such as the Singita Grumeti Reserve. Because concessions restrict the number of vehicles allowed, you will rarely see another soul. Crucially, concessions allow for activities banned inside the main national park. These include night game drives (to see predators hunt) and off-roading to get up close to a sighting.

Because the Serengeti’s wildlife moves constantly, timing your trip determines what you will see outside your tent.

Months

What to expect in the Serengeti

Best for

January – February The southern plains are lush, green, and blanketed by half a million newborn wildebeest calves. Bringing high predator action. Deep green scenery, high drama, and fewer crowds.
June – July The migration moves northwest toward the Western Corridor. The weather is cool, dry, and pleasant. Classic safari conditions and Grumeti River crossings.
August – September The herds risk crocodile-infested waters to cross the Mara River in the north. Maximum wildlife adrenaline (though at peak prices and crowd levels).
October The dry season winds down. Therefore, wildlife crowd heavily around the remaining water sources. Incredible game viewing, lower rates, and greater intimacy.
November and December After months of intense heat and dust, the short rains arrive in November. They are typically brief, refreshing afternoon thundershowers that clear the air. Turning the parched savannas into a vibrant emerald green oasis. The mega herds leave the Masai Mara south through the eastern and central pockets of the Serengeti. By December they have arrived in the southern region. Because the migration is moving fast to the fresh grass, it’s a great time to see vast columns of animals on the move. Best time for mobile camps.

It is also the ideal dream safari and beach combination honeymoon destination. Almost every perfect Serengeti honeymoon ends with a short flight out of the bush to the spice island of Zanzibar. Transitioning from the golden savanna to a romantic beach hotel with turquoise waters, and fresh seafood. It is the classic way to wind down after the early morning game drives.
