Bateleur Camp sits in the woodland at the foot of the magnificent Oloololo escarpment. On the rim of the Great Rift Valley; in Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve. The Masai Mara provides an unsurpassed wildlife experience. Blessed with an astounding year round concentration of animals and the site of the Great Wildebeest Migration.
Covering an area of 1 510 km²; 583 square miles; the Masai Mara is a land of breathtaking vistas, plentiful wildlife, and endless landscapes. With abundant elephants, buffalo, giraffes, lions, and cheetahs. Alongside the migratory wildebeest and zebra, the reserve is a photographer’s and naturalist’s paradise. Leopards are frequently seen. Endangered black rhinos find shelter in dense thickets. While rafts of hippos and enormous crocodiles are found in the Mara River. The reserve is also home to over 450 bird species.

There are two intimate camps at andBeyond Bateleur Camp. Both have nine tented suites each and a family tent. Each elegant tent, with its own private butler and housekeeper, reflects the ambiance and glamour of Kenyan explorers of old. Slip into a world of hardwood floors, polished silver and copper bathtubs. Juxtaposed against the romance of the open Mara plains. With their abundant herds of wildlife. Beautifully handcrafted artifacts, fine antiques, leather buttoned Chesterfield sofas, books, and crystal and candlelight adorn the comfortable sitting and dining areas.
Bathroom
The en suite bathrooms comprise both indoor and outdoor showers; plus a ‘star bath’ with sky views. Each tent has a large private deck with a comfortable day bed overlooking the plains of the Masai Mara. Together with the convenience of a personal bar and coffee station.

Refreshing lap pools in each camp provide cool comfort in between captivating game drives. Bush breakfasts and romantic sundowners offer an unforgettable African experience. Dining under the stars is always a highlight.
There is one Family Suite of 2 interconnecting tents. The interconnecting tents accommodate 2 adults and 2 children. On request; a third child may be allowed. There are also three triple suites; suitable for 2 x adults and 1 x child at Bateleur Camp. Children of all ages are welcome.
Masai Mara Family Safari
Children of all ages are welcome at andBeyond Bateleur Camp. There are two spacious Luxury Tents that make up a Family Tent. The Luxury Family Tent comprises of a twin and double room with adjoining interior corridor and private guest area. Each tent has its own en-suite bathroom and a private veranda and seating area. The Luxury Family Tent can accommodate two adults and two children (three children can be provided for on request).

Game drives are available to children aged twelve years and older. Game drives for children aged six to twelve are at the lodge manager’s discretion. Childminders can be arranged for children younger than 6 during game drives and meal times at an additional cost.
If paying for a private vehicle, children of any age may go on a game drive. With access to sightings being at the discretion of the guide. This is based on the behavior of both the child and animals with safety in mind.

Kids safari program:
Designed especially for children visiting &Beyond’s lodges, the WILDchild program is filled with fun, interactive activities. Offering opportunities to learn and discover new experiences and cultures. On arrival each child will receive a WILDchild branded bag. This contains a logbook, crayons, pencils, and a paw print tattoo. There is a personalized welcome note for every child. With those under three getting an African themed soft toy as well.
Activities Offered
Adventures at Bateleur Camp include twice daily game drives, including spotlit night drives.
Safari in the Masai Mara – elephants
The camp also offers a range of additional activities such as bush walks and community excursions. There is also a well equipped gym and wellness treatments in the massage sala.
Hot air balloon safaris over the Masai Mara are a ‘must do’ experience.
