Canyon Lodge Accommodation

Thirty thatch and stone chalets are against granite boulders with natural rocks incorporated into the rooms. They provide an intimate home base for exploring the landscape. The rooms have twin beds, en suite bathrooms (showers only) and air conditioners. Lose yourself in a book on the terrace, attuned to the ancient rhythms of the land.

The two family rooms are open plan with 2 single beds, a double bed, en suite bathroom, and air-cons. One of the family rooms has only a bath, the other one has a bath and a shower.

Child Policy

Children are most welcome at Canyon Lodge. Children up to 5 years old are free of charge. Kids between the age of 6 and 13 years pay 50% of the B&B rate.

Canyon Lodge Activities

Obviously, the main reason people come to Canyon Lodge is to visit Fish River Canyon. Join a 3–4 day Fish River Canyon Trail for an experience of a lifetime. Or embark on a guided tour to view the plains animals, watch sunrise amidst the quiver trees, hike in the rocky hills or savor the sunset either from the adjacent koppie or on the sunset drive. Away from the world, there is a gentle rhythm of peace to find here, reaffirming the goodness of life.

Morning/Afternoon Canyon Drive (guided):

If you are self-driving, you can do this on your own. For guests who want a break from the wheel or those on a fly-in safari, you can join the guided tour.

Visit the two major lookout points along the Fish River Canyon. The guide will tell you all about the canyon’s fascinating geology. Refreshments, a light snacks and park entrance fees are included.

Consult reception for departure times (morning and afternoon). The tour lasts ±3hrs.

Trail from the Village to the Lodge or vice versa (unguided): A hiking trail takes you from Canyon Village up to a mountain plateau with a breath-taking view of the vast plains adjacent to the canyon. How to get to Canyon Lodge

Canyon Lodge is approximately 20 km east of the Fish River Canyon on the C 37. Anticipation builds up as you turn off the main gravel road toward Canyon Lodge. The soft hues of apricot sand merging with the pale green of euphorbias is a prelude to the loveliness of the lodge surrounds. As you turn a final bend, the lodge comes into view.

Fly in to Karios Airstrip, just 6km away. A transfer can be arranged.
