Suyian Lodge (Laikipia)

Suyian Lodge

Inspired by the ancient rock formations that characterize the region, &Beyond Suyian Lodge seamlessly blends into its natural surroundings, embracing a unique sense of place. The lodge has an extraordinary view of the granite kopjes, the ever resilient plant life that grows in between and vast plains below. Which includes glimpses of the Ewaso Narok River to the east and Mt Kenya in the distance. It is a vital and sheltered space, offering breathtaking sunrises to early risers every morning. The lodge’s curved appearance mirrors the undulating Rock Sanctuary opposite. The Rock Sanctuary is a mesmerizing formation of ancient stone boulders.

Inside, interiors reflect the area’s nature and culture. Embracing an Afro Wabi-Sabi philosophy that finds beauty in impermanence. Subtle cultural touches, drawn from local semi-nomadic tribes, meet modest luxury. While mottled textures echo the region’s most cherished wildlife.

The lodge’s gathering spaces are designed for both lively conversation and quiet retreat. The lounge, library and map room double as an interpretive centre. The Samburu bar, house kitchen and a mix of indoor and outdoor dining areas foster warmth and ease. Evenings end at the firepit, beneath a sky of stars, as the stories of the day mingle with the sounds of the bush.

The lodge’s sparkling rim flow pool and shaded sun loungers beckon for rest. While sunken daybeds offer a cool escape with far reaching views.
