11 Day Jewels of Namibia Tour Full Itinerary
This is the self-drive tour (you drive yourselves) so if you are doing the flying safari, you still stay at the same places, you just get there a lot quicker! Alternatively, we can arrange a private guide to drive you around Namibia.
Day 1, Namibrand Nature Reserve
You are met by a local expert at the airport for a Meet & Greet service. After going through your itinerary with you, you will get their assistance with the rental vehicle collection. From here you depart the international airport via Windhoek and down the Central Plateau to the Namib Desert. Where your lodge is situated within the private NamibRand Nature Reserve.
The NamibRand Nature Reserve is a vast privately owned reserve covering almost 200 000 hectares. It borders the Namib Naukluft Park. South of Sossusvlei in southwestern Namibia. It is home to the most intriguing desert-adapted flora and fauna in this corner of the African continent.

Day 2, Namibrand Nature Reserve
Whether you discover Namibrand on foot, by land rover, or from the air; the multifaceted desert habitats will astound you. Scenic drives, flights, and / or nature walks with resident guides reveal the fascinating wonders of the NamibRand Nature Reserve. As do picnics in the wild, sun downers on the dunes, and dinners by candlelight. The special attraction of the reserve is its diversity of landscape. Virtually all facets of the Namib are here. Creating a living tapestry of colors and shapes that makes it a visual utopia for artists and photographers.

Day 3, Kulala Wilderness Reserve
Your journey takes you a short scenic drive north directly into the Namib Naukluft National Park. This is a place where time seems to stand still and the space is never-ending. With its rolling desert plains and backdrop of craggy mountains and iconic red dunes. Here, it’s not about chasing big game but rather soaking up the beauty of the colorful landscape. Admiring the antelope that scatter the sand, and gazing at the stars the light up the night sky. A welcoming oasis situated directly on the edge of the sand dunes. During the cooler afternoon hours the lodge will take you on a scenic nature drive exploring the desert secrets.

Day 4, Swakopmund
An early start from the Lodge enters the Namib-Naukluft Park at sunrise. This is when the dune contrasts are at their best. And the temperature is still mild making it the best time to explore this natural wonder. You travel in a game viewer with your own desert ranger who shares all his knowledge of the area, animals, plant life and much more. Regular stops are made on the 60 kilometer drive through the dune corridor down to the Vlei’s. This gives you time to take in the vistas and gain information from your guide. One of these is at Dune 45, which will enable you to fully realize the sheer size of the dunes.
Your next highlight awaits you after a gradual guided walk up to Deadvlei. This is a must see for any Namibia visitor. The more energetic have the opportunity to climb to the upper ridge of Big Daddy Dune. One of the highest dunes in this area!
Returning to the lodge your journey takes along a scenic desert route to the Atlantic coastline and charming town of Swakopmund. Here you have the rest of the day at leisure. A wide variety of optional activities are available in Swakopmund. Of which some include Living Desert Tours or a quad biking experience in the Namib dunes.

Day 5, Swakopmund
This day promises both relaxation and adventure. Drive to the yacht harbor in Walvis Bay for a half day marine cruise on a catamaran. You enjoy the interaction with Cape fur seals, dolphins, leather back turtles. And maybe even whales and Orcas. While sipping cold sparkling wine and fresh oysters and snacks. The afternoon is at leisure. Swakopmund offers a wide variety of activities including scenic flights, quad biking, dune boarding, desert explorations, and so much more.

Day 6, Damaraland
Departing northwards along the Atlantic Ocean you proceed inland. Going past the majestic Brandberg Mountain (Namibia’s highest peak) into Damaraland. One of the most geologically diverse and untouched wilderness areas in Africa.
The area has a free-roaming game such as Hartman’s Mountain zebra, giraffe, springbok, black rhino and desert elephant. The latter two being extremely rare and endangered.
Your luxurious lodge meaning “The place of God” is amid huge granite boulders. With awesome views of the surrounding terrain. During the cooler afternoon hours; you take part in an excursion that takes us to visit Southern Africa’s largest open-air museum, Twyfelfontein. This World Heritage Site has more than 2500 different rock engravings. From when the Bushmen inhabited this land some 6000 years ago.

Day 7, Etosha National Park
After breakfast depart on a guided nature drive to explore the surrounding area and search for animal life. Such as the desert-adapted elephants and desert black rhinos. After the return to the lodge; you drive on to a privately owned farm near the border to the Etosha National Park.
The Etosha Oberland Lodge is in a 5000 hectare game reserve. It shares a 10 km border with the Etosha National Park which combines luxury with ample privacy. The main area and restaurant of the Lodge are surrounded by shady trees in a wild, ancient garden. When entering the open lobby area with bar and outside seating area; the view immediately wanders into the wide open space. The chances are high you will spot the first animals in the distance.
The large infinity pool offers an excellent view into the open tree savanna. And 2 x waterholes, where numerous animals can be observed. As the sun sets, many private seating spots, like small islands, invite to relax and observe this African landscape.
The spacious chalets are carefully integrated into nature. All of them are positioned far apart from each other, hardly perceived by the neighbor. This promises lots of privacy and an undisturbed view into the savanna. Grab a book and relax on the terrace in front of your chalet. While listening to the birds chirp and the zebras call in the distance. Your room offers 75m² of space. Tasteful designed with lots of natural material and colors. Day 8, Etosha National Park
After breakfast, enjoy a full day game drive in your vehicle in the Etosha National Park. Traveling from west to east. Your lodge for the following two days is located on the private Onguma Game Reserve. Onguma offers great game viewing, African safari romance, serenity, adventure and so much more! Onguma Reserve consists of 34 000 hectares of protected wilderness area. It is home to numerous plains game, more than 300 bird species and even 4 of the “Big 5”.

Day 9, Etosha National Park
Today again beholds game exploration in Etosha National Park in an open game viewer. Etosha is a 22 750km² wildlife sanctuary in Namibia – one of Africa’s most divers wildlife havens. Etosha, meaning ‘place of dry water’, and refers to a flat calcrete pan of about 5 000km². The ‘Pan’ provides a great, parched, silver-white setting of shimmering mirages. To an area of semi-arid savannah grassland and thorn scrub. The pan itself only contains water after very good rains. But this is enough to stimulate the growth of a blue-green algae which lures thousands of flamingos.
The lodge conducted Etosha Game drives take guests into the Etosha National Park. This is during the cooler morning and afternoons. They are guided by expert guides and in open-sided vehicles. There are close on 114 species of mammal in Etosha. They include the threatened black and white rhino and the black-faced impala. There are no southern impala in the park.

Day 10, AfriCat Foundation
After breakfast, you travel further south to Okonjima, home to the AfriCat Foundation. Okonjima Nature Reserve is equally celebrated for frequent cheetah and leopard sightings on its guided safaris. As well as The AfriCat Foundation. Since being founded in 1991, AfriCat’s mission has been to make significant contributions to conservation. While trying to ensure the survival of Namibia’s predators in their natural habitat. It undertakes research, community support and environmental education projects. As well as conservation work to rehabilitate carnivores such as leopard, wild dog and hyena. You can witness some of the foundations’ work.
The Private Bush Suite is in the open Acacia thornveld within the secluded wilderness area of the Okonjima valley. With a backdrop of the sandstone Omboroko Mountains. It is on the edge of a natural waterhole. There are two separate, luxury, en-suite bedrooms under a double volume thatched roof. Your discreet hosts and chefs attend to all your needs from turn-downs to gourmet meals. Ensuring a relaxed luxury safari experience at Okonjima’s Bush Suite that’s hard to rival.

Day 11, Departure
