Swakopmund Lighthouse

Swakopmund is Namibia’s second largest town wedged between the Namib Desert and the Atlantic Ocean. This town is a favorite seaside holiday destination as it provides a welcome respite to the heat of the interior.

One of the town’s most prominent landmarks is the Swakopmund Lighthouse.

Its old-world charm resembles a Bavarian village, right down to the shops, restaurants, and hotels. It almost feels like you are stuck in a time with the German colonial buildings that have been restored; some of them even turned into museums.

Swakopmund is also famous for its German bakeries serving traditional German cakes and pastries. Many of our guided tours and self-drive itineraries include Swapokmund.

Activities in Swakopmund and Walvis Bay

Quad biking in the dunes, sandboarding, hot air ballooning, fishing, scenic flights to view shipwrecks along the Skeleton Coast and the famous dunes, desert safaris, surfing, etc.
