Mozambique is a very popular beach honeymoon destination with some of the resorts offering discounts and/or gifts to the bride and groom. Most people end their honeymoon relaxing on the beach; after visiting Cape Town and the Kruger National Park.
The islands of Mozambique in the Bazaruto and Quirimbas Archipelagos are a real highlight. And quite literally feel untouched. They also offer the most incredible diving and fishing. The crystal clear waters are so inviting. This makes it an ideal honeymoon destination.
Diving is very popular for honeymooners and you don’t have to go as far as the north. Prices are generally lower too although it is less visited by international honeymooners. Places like Ponta d’Ouro, Ponta Mamoli, Ponta Malongane, Inhaca Island are in Southern Mozambique. They are all in driving distance from South Africa.
Imagine candle lit romantic dinners, private beach picnics, seafood dining, and stretches of white sand – your dream? Then Mozambique is the best honeymoon destination for you.
Best time for a Mozambique Honeymoon
Mozambique has a similar climate to South Africa with the rains falling mainly between December and March. February sometimes experiences cyclones especially further north.
By April/May, the rains subside and the humidity drops.
June to October is the dry season; this is usually the best time to visit if you are looking for a beach holiday in Mozambique. June, July, and August are Mozambique’s coolest months; you’ll need warmer clothes at night, even though the temperature reaches over 30°C by day. During September and October, it remains dry as daytime temperatures climb, though it cools down a lot at night.
November is less predictable – sometimes the rains start (usually from the northern parts of Mozambique first).
