The spirit of safari comes alive at the historic &Beyond Kirkman’s Kamp. Step back in time to this original 1920s homestead. Marvel at the spectacular views of the unspoiled wilderness and the Sand River from each of the 12 x air-conditioned guest suites. Kirkman’s Kamp can sleep a maximum of 25 guests. Here old meets new; with antique-styled beds seamlessly blending with modern comforts; while private verandas create a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Family-friendly Safari
Kirkman’s Kamp welcomes families with children of all ages. There is one x triple room (accommodating one child of 11 and under). It offers an incredible, fun-filled WILDchild experience. This includes croquet and cricket on the lawns; a game of tennis, and also cookie baking; for children aged 3 – 12 years. Whilst on a family safari, you can rest assured that your children will always be safe and well cared for (both on and off game drives). Every minute is supervised by the guides and lodge staff. They will provide hours of amusement and invaluable information to the children in their care. Each WILDchild receives a backpack filled with age-appropriate goodies.
Activities are seasonal and include bark rubbing, bug collecting, frog safaris, ‘poo walks’, baking with the chef, and more.

Included are twice-daily game drives. Safaris are led by expert &Beyond trained ranger and tracker teams, that ensure sensitive off-road practices to allow, while strict vehicle limits at sightings ensure the exclusivity of an up-close game viewing experience.

Weather and best time to visit Sabi Sand Game Reserve
The summer months (November until March) are hot and humid. Rains and typical afternoon thundershowers are experienced. Temperatures start to cool slightly in April with less rain. The winter months (May until June) are warm with cold nights. From July until September; it is very dry, with cold nights and early morning / late afternoon temperatures. Spring (September until October) is very dry, with hot winds. The rains start towards the end of October.
The best time to visit
The Sabi Sand is a year-round destination therefore any time of year is great. Although it probably has optimum game viewing from March until October.
Getting to Kirkman’s Kamp:
Daily flights from Johannesburg or Cape Town to Skukuza Airstrip. Followed by an easy drive or transfer to the camp. It is about a five-hour drive from Johannesburg to the lodge on good roads. Or charter a flight to arrive in style.
