Amakhala Safari Lodge sleeps 22 x guests in 11 well-appointed and richly furnished suites. The air conditioned suites have large beds that are cocooned in a mosquito net. Each en suite suite has a private plunge pool and separate lounge areas. An outdoor shower makes your bush experience even more authentic. Sip on sparkling wine in your double bath filled with aromatherapy scented bubbles. The suites are a favorite for honeymooners and the romantic at heart.

The malaria-free Amakhala Game Reserve boasts 5 of South Africa’s 7 biomes. It is a particularly diverse and picturesque reserve. And has the Bushman’s River meandering through it. Amakhala boasts an abundant variety of wildlife including the Big 5, and over 250 species of bird life. Thereby offering dynamic and abundant wildlife experiences on game drives, night drives, and walking safaris.
Day and night safaris with expert game rangers’ who track and guide guests through the surrounding valleys and bush. Where the Big 5 go about their daily lives in perfect balance.
Big 5 Wilderness Walk
Enjoy Big 5 walking trails with a FGASA accredited Professional Trails Guide. As well as a Specialist Birding Guide (SKS Birding Thicket Biome). Get off the beaten track and follow the myriad of elephant and rhino trails that crisscross this ancient landscape. Lucky walkers might even get the opportunity to track and view some big game. No less important and even more interesting are the countless small creatures. And their tracks and signs that may be encountered on foot.

Horse Riding Safari
Riders looking for an unforgettable riding experience can saddle up for a ride on the wild side. They cater for small groups of up to 6 intermediate to experienced riders. Experienced younger riders between 10 and 15 years old may also join. If accompanied by a parent or guardian. Horseback safaris typically last between two to three hours. The speed of the trail ride is adjusted to the riders’ level of experience. This allows plenty of time for wildlife viewing and finding the perfect spot to rest the horses. And enjoy refreshments and snacks.
Skill level: Intermediate to experienced riders are welcome
Equipment needed: Please bring appropriate clothing including long pants and suitable shoes. A riding helmet will be provided

How to get to Amakhala Safari Lodge
Amakhala Game Reserve is between the Greater Addo and Frontier Country area in the Eastern Cape. Only a 45 minute drive east of Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth). We can arrange a road transfer to the lodge or a hire car.
Included: Accommodation, meals, selected house beverages, and 2 game drives per day.
Excluded: Premium branded beverages, Conservation Levy, transfers, telephone calls, laundry and any items of a personal nature.
Single supplement is 30% except over peak season when it is 100% supplement.
Child Policy:
Children from 9-11yrs may share a rooms with parents and pay 50% of adult sharing rate.
Over 12 years is considered an adult.
Children staying in a room by themselves will be charged the full adult rates
