Cape Winelands Honeymoon

A honeymoon in the Cape Winelands oozes romance. With dramatic mountain backdrops and some of the finest wines on offer. The most popular town is Franschhoek which is also the gourmet capital of South Africa. Other towns include the historic, oak lined streets of Stellenbosch and Paarl. They are all about 30 minutes drive apart.

Skip to Cape Winelands Accommodation with honeymoon packages

For a whimsical, carefree day, hop on the Franschhoek Wine Tram. The hop-on, hop-off routes take you through various historic estates. For a honeymoon, book a private hop-on experience or the curated Curated Wine Tour for a more exclusive feel.

If you want something relaxed yet deeply romantic, book a private picnic basket at Boschendal or Vergenoegd Löw. You’ll get a blanket, a basket filled with artisanal cheeses, charcuterie, and fresh farm bread, and a perfectly chilled bottle of local MCC (Méthode Cap Classique—South Africa’s sparkling wine). Experience fine dining and some of the most incredible wines on your honeymoon.

When is the best time for a Cape Winelands Honeymoon?

The best weather is from November – March. Days are warm, sunny, and perfect for long alfresco dinners. February/March is also harvest season, so the valleys are buzzing with energy.

However, honeymooners tend to love the romance of winter from June – August. It is incredibly romantic to sit by a roaring log fire at a wine estate with a glass of local Pinotage or Cabernet Sauvignon.

Cape Winelands Honeymoon Packages

It is difficult to choose where to stay on your honeymoon in the Cape Winelands. We would personally say that in winter, it is worth going more upmarket. The prices are lower so it isn’t as expensive as the summer months.

These are our Cape Winelands hotels that have honeymoon offers. All the hotels will do something special for honeymooners so please let us know if you have a specific hotel in mind.
