During the 1870s, gold was discovered high in the crevices of the Drakensberg escarpment which rises to the west of Sabi Sabi. To transport the gold, parliament commissioned a railway line to Mozambique. A branch railway known as the Selati Line crossed the Sabi Sand Reserve.
Today the line is disused but the old railbed can still be seen in the northeastern section of Sabi Sabi, close to Selati Camp. The premier accommodation at Selati Camp is the sumptuous and spacious Ivory Presidential Suite. It is a favorite among those looking for exceptional accommodation. It offers colonial grandeur in the form of original antiques and a draped four-poster bed. There is also a private terrace and a fireplace. This suite has a magnificent en-suite bathroom; complete with Persian carpet and an antique chaise lounge and also features a very private plunge pool. The separate dressing room features an antique wardrobe and a matching dressing table. Draped mosquito nets, railway memorabilia from the late 1800s, an antique dresser, and the gentle glow of oil lamps all combine to make this an exceptional suite. Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve, situated in the world-renowned 65000 hectares Sabi Sand Wildtuin in the Southwestern section of the Kruger National Park, is a wildlife oasis, where you can observe at close quarters the age-old natural relationship between predator and prey. With no fences between Sabi Sabi and the Kruger National Park; wildlife roams freely, giving guests the ultimate safari experience. The Reserve is blessed with a great biodiversity of habitat and wildlife. This gives an excellent chance for close encounters with the ‘Big Five’ as well as wild dogs and cheetahs. With over 300 bird species, the reserve is a birdwatcher’s delight.
Safaris take place each morning and evening in open safari vehicles. After breakfast, guests on guided walking trails can experience the natural environment on foot. The dedicated, highly trained, and experienced Rangers lead you to discover miracles of nature you may never have dreamed existed.

Getting to Sabi Sabi Selati Camp
There are daily flights from O.R. Tambo (Johannesburg) International Airport directly to the Sabi Sabi Airstrip. The lodge does complimentary transfers between the Sabi Sabi Airstrip and the Sabi Sabi safari lodges. Alternatively, there are daily flights from Johannesburg, Durban, and Cape Town to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA) (Nelspruit) or Skukuza Airport. From KMIA, it is possible to connect to Livingstone (Victoria Falls) and Vilanculos (Mozambique). Short-hop flights can be booked from KMIA to the Sabi Sabi Airstrip. Alternatively, we can arrange your transfer by road to the lodge. Private air charters or helicopter transfers on request.
Sabi Sabi is 500 km from Johannesburg, which is an easy five-hour drive on National Roads.

Christmas Peak Period A Christmas Peak Period surcharge of 15% will apply to all bookings arriving between 20th December and 5th January every year. The surcharge will apply to the entire booking regardless of the check-out date.
Single Room Policy There will be no single supplement for up to a maximum of 2 suites per booking; except in peak season; which is between 20th December and 5th January every year. Thereafter; guests occupying single suites will be levied a supplement of an additional 50% of the specified daily rate. This excludes the Lourenco Marques Honeymoon Suite and Presidential Suite where a single supplement will apply.
Child Policy
Children may be allowed if you book Selati Camp on an exclusive-use basis. Rates are available on request. We recommend Sabi Sabi Bush Lodge for your family safari as they have a dedicated children’s center and childminders.

The above rates are per person sharing per night and include: Open vehicle safaris by day and at night, Environmental awareness walking safaris, Breakfast, lunch, and dinner, A house selection of beverages, WiFi, and transfers to and from the Sabi Sabi airstrip. The rate also includes government taxes (VAT).

All rates exclude the Sabie Game Reserve (SGR) Conservation Levy. The conservation levy supports conservation, security, access control, and anti-poaching initiatives.
