Kilindi achieves the perfect marriage between Scandinavian minimalism and the dramatic architectural overtones of Middle Eastern heritage, whilst encouraging an open, ‘back-to-nature’ ambiance throughout. The main building has wide archways designed to capture the sea breezes that lead through to a terrace overlooking the beach. There is a spacious bar with a waterfall feature and an indoor/outdoor dining area. The bar overlooks a large 25-meter infinity pool and the ocean.

Dining options include romantic dinners on the beach, by the pool, among the gardens, and room service. Kilindi’s delectable cuisine uses the freshest seafood caught that day, and an organic garden provides fresh crisp ingredients.

Kilindi Zanzibar is a couples-only property (Min. age 16 years). Family groups can be accommodated only when Kilindi is booked on a fully exclusive basis.

The accommodation at Kilindi Zanzibar is fringed by casuarina trees and set on a magnificent private beach of pure white sand. It offers luxurious accommodations in 15 x domed pavilion-style villas, spread across lush tropical gardens. Each stunning air-conditioned villa has a private plunge pool with water features and a waterfall. The spacious (220m2) villas have an ensuite bathroom. A separate but extraordinary ‘rainfall’ shower room is annexed to each of the Pavilion rooms. These same showers provide not only a spectacular view of the Ocean but the liberating sensation of being ‘at one with nature’.

A dedicated butler will offer you a wide selection of places to enjoy your breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And should guests wish to leave the oasis of tranquility and calm of their private Pavilion, the butler can help, advise and arrange the many activities and excursions that the island can offer.

In each of the Pavilion suites, white wooden-slatted shutters embrace wide-arched glassless windows each affording spectacular views over the Indian Ocean. This openness allows the gentle ocean breeze to waft throughout each of the rooms and carries with it the delightful soundtrack of Kilindi’s colorful birdlife. The Zanzibar red colobus monkey can be found on a day trip to the Jozani Forest. Endemic only to the archipelago, this endangered primate is a social creature living in family groups of 30-50 individuals.

Stone Town is a UNESCO world heritage site and a place where history still lives. The stone buildings, meandering alleyways, and markets still existing as they have done for centuries make for a fascinating day of sightseeing.

An ancient trading post on the Spice Trade route, Zanzibar has historically produced some of the most desired spices. Nutmeg, cloves, vanilla, and pepper to name a few. Spices are still grown to this day, and it is possible to do a “Spice Tour”, visiting a plantation and learning some of the histories of the trade.
