Sustainability
Sustainable, responsible tourism lies at the heart of this project. One of the Zambezi Queen’s major concerns is the preservation of this unspoiled area. The Zambezi Queen has therefore been designed and built to very specific requirements. It does not use conventional propellers. A jet propulsion system; reduces damage to the river bed and enables the boat to operate in shallow water. At night it switches over to a low-emission power system for lighting, refrigerators, and other requirements. This unique system allows guests to enjoy the sounds of the bush; undisturbed by the unwanted sounds of modern technology. All hot water requirements are provided by solar panels; which transfer the sun’s energy to storage boilers. Taps and showers incorporate the most advanced water-saving designs available. All used water is stored in holding tanks so as to prevent discharging directly into the river.
Chobe Safari
Teeming with life; Chobe National Park sprawls across some 11 000 km² of the lush African bush. It is home to the largest populace of elephants in the world. Currently estimated at 120,000. Add to this, prides of lion, massive herds of buffalo, and the elusive leopard. As well as numerous species of plains game. And prolific bird life makes this a nature lover’s paradise. Hippos and crocodiles in the waters below. As well as Africa’s ultimate freshwater game fish. The voracious fighting tiger fish make this truly a unique place under the African sun.
The suggested cruise circuit on the Chobe River involves either a two night, three, or four night stay on the Zambezi Queen. A dedicated team of experienced guides, chefs, and staff will ensure a memorable experience for all guests. See our Zambezi Queen Houseboat Packages for 2, 3, or 4 night packages. The 2 night departures are on Mondays and Wednesdays and the 3 night departures are on Fridays. Stay for 4 nights starting on a Monday and finishing on a Friday.
