Leroo La Tau (Makgdikgadi)

Leroo La Tau Camp overlooking the Boteti River and zebra migration

Leroo La Tau rises majestically above the seasonal Boteti River. The Boteti River provides a lifeline for the wildlife which inhabit the arid national park. The river is a critical link in the annual zebra migration. Stretched across the western border of the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park. Leroo La Tau is the perfect base from which to explore this truly unique piece of Botswana paradise.

The lodge offers a raised hide above the river where guests can enjoy the spectacular wildlife sightings. This offers guests the chance to experience the exhilaration of seeing large concentrations of game. And the resultant predator interaction.

The main lounge, bar and dining area has an inviting wooden and thatch finish. Alternatively you can lounge around the swimming pool. Having enjoyed a spectacular wildlife phenomenon on guided day and night game drives, guests can retire after dinner to a splendid fireplace overlooking the river.

Leroo La Tau translates as ‘lion’s paw’. Although the surrounding area features abundant lion, zebra and wildebeest. It also boasts Chobe bushbucks, leopards, cheetahs, brown and spotted hyenas, impalas, kudus, jackals, porcupines, genets and caracals.

Children aged 6 and over are welcome. However, kids under the age of 16 years must share with a parent at all times.

Safaris create a life long impression on children of any age. The incredible guides adore kids and know exactly how to bring a safari alive for young minds. Stopping to look at lion footprints. Or standing next to a huge elephant bone. The guides know how to keep the kids tuned in. Peering through binoculars at a weaver bird carefully repairing a nest. Or watching as huge crocodiles slip silently into the water as you cruise by. These are experiences that will stay with children forever.
