Savute Safari Lodge is a small unpretentious lodge on the banks of the Savute Channel. The ideal location to explore the Savute Marshes. Sink into one of the numerous comfortable leather, wood, or wicker sofas in the lounge and library. Or sip a cocktail in the stylish bar. All these facilities are situated in a beautiful two storey thatch and timber main building. Savute Safari Lodge offers a shaded viewing deck, an al fresco dining area, and a swimming pool with spectacular pool loungers. Ideal for watching the varied wildlife, including the resident Elephants, as they make their way to the Channel to drink, bathe, and play.
Stretching from the Linyanti River all the way to Savute Marsh, the winding waterways of the Savute Channel have pumped life into the south western section of Chobe National Park for many thousands of generations. However, this fickle and unpredictable channel, which has a fascinating history of flooding and drying up, independently of good rainy seasons and flood levels elsewhere. This has mystified local inhabitants, geologists, and others for many years. The Savute region and the Savute Marsh in particular, is renowned for its intense predator encounters and exceptional game viewing. This makes it one of Botswana’s most popular wildlife destinations.

Safaris create a lifelong impression on children of any age. The incredible guides adore kids and know exactly how to bring a safari alive for young minds. Stopping to look at lion footprints. Or standing next to a huge elephant bone. The guides know how to keep the kids tuned in. Peering through binoculars at a weaver bird carefully repairing a nest. Or watching as huge crocs slip silently into the water as you cruise by. These are experiences that will stay with children forever.

Savute Safari Lodge Activities
Activities are organized around game drives throughout the Savute area in open 4×4 safari vehicles. Many trips will incorporate a visit to the Savute Marsh to give you a chance to see the historic presence of the Savute Channel at the marsh against a backdrop of teeming wildlife.
Guests can also enjoy a visit to the ancient San rock paintings at Gubatsa Hills. A small hilly outcrop which forms a prominent landmark in the otherwise flat landscape.
Savute boasts the second largest summer Zebra migration in Africa. The timing of the migration is determined by the rains. But usually occurs between November and December and again between February and April. When the Zebras move from the rivers in the north in search of the rain ripe grasslands and full waterholes in the southwest of the park. The migration is always followed by large numbers of predators. The Zebra migration is a must for visitors.

Day 1 – 4
The Savute region of the Chobe National Park is one of Botswana’s best game viewing destinations. Offering exceptional year round game viewing. In the green season, massive herds of zebra migrate through the Savute Marsh along with other large groups of mammals in search of the rich grasses. This open marsh area makes for easier predator sightings along with an increase in the prey available. The Northern and Marsh lion prides that dominate the region remain; and offer excellent predator encounters. As the rains bring fresh growth and water into the Savute Marsh, marvel at the amazing birdlife. Large flocks of the vibrant Carmine bee-eaters migrate through the area to pick up insects. They are known to follow vehicles to prey on insects as they flick up providing beautiful photograph opportunities.
Day 5 – 7
Some camps and lodges in the Okavango Delta change dramatically throughout the year with green season often offering a vastly contrasting experience due to the floodwaters having receded. Xugana Island Lodge offers water based activities year round on a private concession in the heart of the Okavango Delta. The best location from which to explore the deep water, lagoons, and channels. Guided bush walks on the surrounding islands offer a unique perspective of the delta. As well as an opportunity to witness the abundant wildlife on foot. With the lower floodwaters of the green season, the camp can access the mainland by vehicle to offer seasonal game drives. This allows for excellent game viewing on day and night drives. The perfect green season Okavango Delta camp with every activity available!
