Set on the remote Xaxaba Island; Belmond Eagle Island Lodge’s design captures the spirit of the Delta. It blends cleverly into the landscape while offering super stylish facilities and contemporary comforts.
Belmond Eagle Island Lodge offers a vast range of activities including game drives all year. Private game drives are a truly intimate way to get closer to the country’s natural wonders. Usually between May and September; the delta floods. Then the water wonderland comes to life and it is best explored by boat. While in the drier months; activities include nature walks, village visits, and exhilarating horseback and helicopter safari.
The 12 x deluxe guest rooms are each 62 sq meters with an additional 20 sq meters deck. Their interiors are full of charming details, each one offering up a little magic of the delta. Flooded with light by day, they are indulgently cozy at night. Unwind in the soothing grey interior, punctuated by flashes of deep gold in this luxury safari accommodation.
The centerpiece of each guest room is the oversized bed offering views out onto the delta. A separate daybed within a window nook doubles as an extra bed. Other features include a desk, a fully-stocked complimentary minibar, and discreet air conditioning. Naturally, the rooms have luxurious gowns and slippers, complimentary WiFi, and housekeeping.
The guest rooms include a walk-in dressing room and a luxurious bathroom. These have two vanity units, lots of space for toiletries, an indoor and outdoor shower, and a freestanding black bathtub.
Best of all, each tented room boasts its own private rim-flow plunge pool and private deck. Both are perfect for soaking up the scenery.
Family safaris:
Children over the age of 6 are welcome when sharing a room with an adult. However, a maximum of 2 x triples are permitted in camp a night. Adult supervision is required in and around the lodge plus on activities.
Extra bed/triple room usage for 12 years and older will be charged the 3rd person rate subject to availability at the time of booking. Children 6 – 11 years pay 50% of the adult per person sharing rate for low and shoulder seasons. Children 6 – 11 years pay 75% of the adult per person sharing rate for high season.

Game Drives
Embark on a thrilling early morning or afternoon game drive and encounter a wide range of birds, aquatic wildlife, and mammals including elephants, buffalo, and big cats.
Mokoro Canoe Safari:
Glide silently on a traditional dugout canoe; a mode of transport used by the locals for centuries and witness brightly colored frogs, kingfishers, dragonflies, or elephants feasting on the reeds in front of you. Explore the shallow, clear waters drifting past brilliant waterlily and papyrus grasses as you can reach areas inaccessible by boat.
Motorized Boating and Barge Cruises
The chance to explore open waters is a unique feature of an Okavango Delta safari. Cover even more ground and delve deeper into the landscape; with a chance to spot an even greater range of wildlife. Fishing
The Okavango Delta’s channels are rich with tilapia. While spotted and silver catfish can be found in the many lazy pools. African pike, infamous fighters; are also a favorite snare. If you have never fished before; the Okavango Delta is the ultimate place to start. Please note: catch and release fishing only.

Helicopter Safari in the Okavango Delta: Experience the Okavango Delta as you have never seen it before. Spot remote, inaccessible lakes and islands as well as an abundance of wildlife from the sky. Helicopter flights over Botswana are one of life’s big adventures. Additional charges apply.
Horse riding safari in the Okavango Delta: This exhilarating safari begins at first light with a 10-minute helicopter flight. Then saddle up for a guided horseback ride through the Delta. Move quietly past wild dogs, elephants, buffalo, hippo, and zebra in their natural habitat. Additional charges apply and horse riding experience is essential.
Spa
Choose from a selection of therapies to enjoy in the comfort of your room or on your private deck. Relax and absorb the gentle sounds of the delta. The call of a fish eagle, an elephant swishing by; as a therapist gives you a soothing massage or rejuvenating facial.

Fish Eagle Bar There is no better place to experience the sunset over the Okavango Delta than from the stylish Fish Eagle Bar. You may find yourself being entertained by the resident elephant plucking berries from a tree while enjoying a light snack and favorite cocktail.
Getting there
Flights from Maun Airport are approximately 20 minutes or from Kasane Airport, 85 minutes. Helicopter transfers from Maun are also available. All guests are welcomed at the private airstrip and a helipad is also located nearby.
