Belmond Savute Elephant Lodge boasts 12 x air conditioned luxury tented rooms shaded by a traditional African thatch roof.  Each 52 m2 (560 ft2) suite is raised on a wooden platform to allow breathtaking views of wildlife in their natural habitat.  The expansive private decks are furnished with a huge daybed as well as two comfortable armchairs and a side table. This makes them perfect for viewing wildlife, an afternoon nap, or for enjoying dinner in complete privacy.

The interiors are luxuriously appointed with an en suite bathroom and a large outdoor shower. The four-poster bed with mosquito net, as well as a lounging sofa, are outward-facing with uninterrupted views of passing wildlife. Imaginatively designed to evoke a sense of discovery and adventure. Using the best Eco-friendly, sustainable practices, you’ll feel closer to the wildlife than ever before.

Amenities include luxurious gowns and slippers, bespoke bath products, a minibar, safe, binoculars, stylish tote bags, and game sets designed for meaningful downtime. There is twice daily housekeeping and complimentary laundry service. Complimentary WiFi in rooms.

A Botswana family safari is an incredible experience to share with your loved ones. Experienced guides ensure that your family has a safe and unforgettable experience.

    • Children’s amenities may include: one soft toy, milk and cookies turn down, safari story.
    • Small 5 safari.

    • Baking in the kitchen with the chefs.
    • Educational stargazing evening.
    • Junior guide program: Children are divided into teams and given a task/subject to gather info during their stay. They present findings to the group on the last day.
    • Bush skills; traditional plant uses, spoor identification.
    • Survival skills; learning how to make rope out of natural materials and making traditional bows and arrows.
    • Bush games: elephant dung toss and centipede shuffle.
    • Interactive bush walks: for kids aged 16 years and older.

Child Policies at Belmond Botswana Safari Lodges

  • Children under the age of 6 will be allowed at the General Manager’s discretion.
  • A maximum of 2 triple rooms are permitted in camp per night.
  • Children 6 – 11 years pay 50% of the adult per person sharing rate for low and shoulder seasons.
  • Children 6 – 11 years pay 75% of the adult per person sharing rate for the high and peak seasons.
  • Extra bed/triple room usage for 12 years and older will be charged the 3rd person rate.
  • Guests traveling with children need to book a private vehicle for the duration of their stay.
  • Adult supervision (over 16) is required for children under 12.
  • Childminding services are available at an additional cost. Belmond calls their childminders Bush Buddies. Pre-booking is essential, and the service is subject to availability.
  • Light aircraft inter lodge flights are charged at the full price.

Bushmen Paintings and Baobab Trees

Head out into the bush and find a collection of paintings by the San Bushmen that will take your breath away. Thought to be more than 1,500 years old, these are a must-see. Then continue on to the amazing baobab grove – a cathedral-like cluster of 13 giant trees that are almost as old as the paintings.

Start the day with a light breakfast overlooking the watering hole where elephants and wild dogs gather to drink. Feel free to help yourself to coffee and fresh juice in the open kitchen as your breakfast is prepared before you.

Relax in the “lounge in the bush”, an inviting space designed in natural timber, rattan and leather with bright geometric fabrics and chandeliers inspired by Botswana clay pots.

Each night back at the Lodge; you sit down to a feast of regional delicacies. The Boma offers a unique dining experience that brings the true spirit of Africa alive. We can also arrange for a private romantic table on your private deck, or stage an unforgettable dinner in the viewing hide for a secret, close up view of the animal action.

Getting there:

Scheduled inter-camp flights are approximately 45 minutes from Maun or Kasane Airport. The lodge is 20 minutes from the airstrip. Helicopter transfers from Maun are also available.
