Skybeds offers a unique safari experience. There are not many places in the world where you can sleep atop a five meter high, wooden platform. In a big 5 safari reserve! With only a mozzie net between you and the stars in the Khwai Private Reserve, Okavango Delta. But this little gem is one of the most exciting places to do this.
The platforms overlook a waterhole; frequented by 400 x bull elephants, along with lion, leopard, eland, zebra, and more. This is the only permanent water source for 2000 hectares. Therefore it makes for some pretty outstanding game viewing, straight from your platform.
Giraffe at the waterhole at Skybeds
With only three Skybeds, the camp accommodates just six guests. Making it one of the most intimate camps in Botswana. Each platform comes complete with a flush toilet, shower, and basin under each sleeping area. On the top floor, an enormous double bed, draped in white linens and a feather duvet. And completely open to the stars. So, whilst we can’t guarantee you’ll get a good night’s sleep. We can guarantee one of the wildest and most wonderful safari experiences you’ll ever have. The Skybeds are completely safe and offer excellent value for money.
There is a good dose of romance in the Skybeds, but that doesn’t mean they’re only for couples. Small groups can book the camp on an exclusive basis (that’s what we call a party!). Families with children 15 years and older are welcome. If you’re staying at Tuludi, Sable Alley, Hyena Pan, or Little Sable; add in a night at the Skybeds. For a change of pace and scene.
Skybeds is open from 1st April to 31st October. Although this is the dry season; don’t be fooled by the warm daytime temperatures. It can get chilly in the evenings. That’s exactly why each Skybed is equipped with cozy blankets and duvets. At this time of year, the wildlife congregates at the Skybeds waterhole. Herds cluster together, and predators lurk in the wings. You can almost feel the heightened tension over the last drops of water.
