Ker & Downey Okuti camp sits on the banks of the wildlife rich Maunachira River which flows through Xakanaxa Lagoon. This is in the Moremi Game Reserve of the Okavango Delta. Okuti is a sanctuary of serenity surrounded by abundant birdlife, thriving wildlife populations in their picturesque lagoons, grassy floodpains and woodlands. The Xakanaxa region is one the rare areas of the Okavango where guests can enjoy the full suite of land and water based activities, game drives and boating excursions (barge, motorboat and mokoro dugout canoe). This region remains one of Moremi Game Reserve’s best year round wildlife hotspots. This makes it ideal for first time and repeat visitors to Botswana.
The camp’s elevated lounge and separate dining room mirror the stunning views over the Maunachira River. This central lounge/bar is the social heart of Okuti. A favorite gathering spot featuring comfortable leather couches, a well stocked self-service bar, and a curated mini-library. Designed for relaxation and connection, this inviting space effortlessly encourages friendly, jovial discussions between guests and the dedicated team. Making moments you spend here feel like coming home. There is an open deck for evenings around the campfire. As well as a curio shop and a swimming pool.
Okuti can sleep up to 16 x guests in the 7 x tents (2 x family units).
There are 5 very spacious twin or double bedded “Masasas”. This is the ancient tribal word for house of reeds. Exceptionally unique in style and architecture all rooms overlook the permanent Maunachira Channel. The tents have a king bed, surrounded by a honey colored mosquito net. Each en-suite bathroom has double vanities and both an indoor and outdoor shower. Okuti Camp’s spacious curved rooms are set on raised teak decks, with a balcony overlooking the river. Connected by raised wooden walkways all areas of camp are wheelchair accessible.

Every possible comfort has been catered for. From standing and ceiling fans to yoga mats and hair dryers!
The Moremi environment is varied. With pans, floodplains, lagoons, grasslands, forests of acacia trees, savannas, and dense Mopane Woodlands. This unique ecosystem, characteristic of the Okavango Delta, allows for a diverse spectrum of wildlife. Including buffalo, giraffe, zebra, kudu, warthog, impala, red lechwe and possibly even a sitatunga, the Okavango’s elusive water antelope. It is renowned for its’ predators, which include lion, leopard, hyena and wild dogs, amongst others.
Okavango Delta Game Drives
Guests can experience daytime game drives with unhindered views in specially designed safari vehicles and individual use of a camera mount. Ker & Downey Botswana vehicles have 6 seats and guarantee all passengers a window seat. Vehicles have the capacity of up to seven passengers should groups choose to stay together in one vehicle.
Lions
A full day game drive including a picnic lunch enables guests to traverse and explore this vast natural area. Exceptionally picturesque the landscape is a photographer’s oasis.

Okavango Delta Boating
Guests can also explore the Okavango Delta waterways by motorboat or Mokoro (seasonal). With minimal seasonal water level fluctuations the boat excursions are arguably one of the most spectacular in the Okavango Delta. Boating is in the smaller speed boats.
A special experience for guests at Okuti is the double deck barge. This craft elevates guests on the upper deck above the reeds, allowing for extraordinary sunsets with 360 degree views of the splendor of the Okavango. For brunch/ lunch at Okuti, guests are treated to a barge meal. Complete with a barbecue on board, harvest styled salads, and beverages while effortlessly cruising along the channels and lagoons in cool comfort.
Okavango Delta Birding
The Moremi Game Reserve is home to over 400 of the Okavango’s species of birds. The area’s open lagoons and winding channels make it a birder’s paradise. Complete with herons and storks in the breeding season.

Okuti Dedicated Specialist Safaris
Would you prefer a Specialist Guide to accompany you for the duration of your stay? The Specialist Guides are well versed in all aspects of guiding including photography, and family safaris.
Cost of $550 in 2026 and 2027 per night. This includes the guides’ accommodation and flights between the Ker & Downey Botswana camps. Maximum of six guests per Specialist Guide. Depending on the number of guests a private vehicle may be required. This will be advised at the time of booking.

The emphasis is on providing the family with engaging, age appropriate activities. On a flexible schedule while creating shared family memories to last a lifetime. On completion of the safari, children receive a gift pack including a shirt, cap, water bottle, and certificate.
Private Safari Vehicle
A private vehicle may be booked for guests requiring three or fewer people per vehicle. The cost for this is $500 in 2026 and 2027 per vehicle per night. This also secures private activities as offered by the camp. Ker & Downey Botswana offers this upgrade at all camps except Maxa.

Okuti is in the Xakanaxa region of the Moremi Game Reserve, Okavango Delta. It is a short 25 minute flight from Maun.

For every full paying bed night booked in a Ker & Downey Botswana property, US$5 will be added to the invoice as a discretionary donation to Chobe Impact. An independent not for profit entity. Ker & Downey Botswana commits to match each donation from its own profits. Chobe Impact applies the funds to projects making a positive impact in the key areas of education, community empowerment, research, and conservation. Their historical support for Bana Ba Letsatsi continues, but through Chobe Impact. Should any guest be unwilling to make the donation, they shall request for it to be removed in writing prior to booking confirmation.
