Machaba Camp accommodation is a luxury 1950’s style safari camp in the Khwai area (wheelchair friendly). Little Machaba is ideal for exclusive use safaris. Aimed at affordable luxury travel markets across the world. It offers great value for money and a unique classical safari experience.
The main Machaba Camp accommodates up to 24 people. The smaller; Little Machaba sleeps up to 8 people or 12 people on an exclusive use basis. The camps are inspired by the authentic spirit of a safari with Eco-luxury canvas safari tents, en-suite bathrooms, and living areas.
Machaba Camps are environmentally friendly safari camps consciously forgoing certain conveniences like hairdryers and aircon. They rely on alternative energy; a hybrid of solar energy and a backup generator. And use low energy consuming appliances and light bulbs to lighten the load on the planet. No permanent fixtures mean that the campsites can be rehabilitated in 1.5 years. Separate Bio Plants manage the kitchen, laundry, and staff village solids.
Machaba Camp will be undergoing a series of well considered upgrades. All tents are being replaced with a new design. These changes improve comfort while preserving the classic Machaba character. Completion is expected by May 2026.
Nestled in a riverine tree line, the camp offers privacy, spectacular river views with excellent food, and especially a layer of warm hospitality. The tents are positioned alongside the picturesque Moremi and Khwai Rivers to optimize views of the animals coming to the river’s edge to drink.
Machaba Camp has 10 Luxury Tents sleeping a maximum of 24 guests in 8 x Luxury Tents and 2 x Family Luxury Tents. Built on the ground level to make them more suited to guests that are less mobile / wheelchair friendly. Tent 5 (Family Tent) & Tent 4 (Double) also have railings in the toilet for disabled guests.
The luxury safari tents feature en suite bedrooms with a romantic king sized bed or two twin beds. The Family tents at Machaba Camp have two separate sleeping areas; each with oversized beds and comfortably catering to four guests in total. There are mini safes in all the tents as well as standing fans.

Family safari:
Children of all ages are welcome at Machaba Camp. Kids aged 5 years and younger stay free. While children between 6 and 11 pay the standard child rate. All children of 12 years and older pay the full adult rate.
Only four guests can share a Family Luxury Tent (additional children on request, please speak to us)
A private vehicle must be booked for guests traveling with children under the age of 6.
No children under 12 are allowed to participate in Mokoro and Game Walk activities.

Little Machaba Camp
While Little Machaba shares the same island and style as Machaba Camp it is a much smaller, more intimate camp. It is built on raised decks to offer everyone picturesque views over the Moremi Game Reserve. It offers luxury safari tents with en suite bathrooms and living areas with romantic outdoor showers. They also have private romantic outdoor baths. The main dining and bar area is also on wooden decks; overlooking a large floodplain.
Little Machaba Camp has 4 x Luxury Tents sleeping a maximum of 8 x guests in 2 x Luxury Tents and 2 x Family Luxury Tents (used for 2 adults). No children under 12 years of age are allowed at Little Machaba unless exclusive use of the Camp is booked. Therefore; they can accommodate up to 12 people including the children (2 x adults and 2 x children in the Family Tents).

A typical day on safari at Machaba Camps
Kindly note times may vary slightly and winter timings are different
Wake up call at your room at 5.30 am before gathering at the main area for a light breakfast and a cuppa. At around 6.30 am, depart for your morning activity such as game drive, nature walk, or mokoro.
Return from your morning activity and enjoy brunch while sharing stories of your encounters with fellow guests.
Afternoon at leisure. Activities include relaxing in and around the swimming pool; visiting the curio shop or by all means enjoying a spa treatment in your room.
Afternoon Tea is at 3.30 pm before departing on your afternoon game drive. Dinner is under the stars at around 8 pm and afterward, an optional night safari drive is offered; before retiring for the evening.

The Khwai Concession is a 35 000 hectare reserve located in the northeastern section of the world famous Okavango Delta which shares its westerly border with the Moremi Game Reserve.
